City or county councils are responsible for putting up street name signs on the public roads. This applies to everything from major motorways to street signs in residential areas. Neighbourhood names
Many people also include the neighbourhood name on signs. This is information that few road users need, but displaying the neighbourhood name also indicates the housing association in many cases, as neighbourhoods and housing associations often share names.
